The Kendrick Extrication Device is a specialized piece of equipment used by Emergency Medical Responders and First Responders in British Columbia. The KED allows rescuers to apply spinal motion restriction to a patient with suspected spinal injuries, while in a seated position.
A lesser known, but very effective use for the KED is to create a "pelvic binding" splint, to support a suspected pelvic fracture during movement or extrication of the patient.
