Overview
The purpose of this Medical Terminology course is to provide an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the course will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.
Duration
12 - 24 hours. Online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at any time and can resume where they left off. The duration will vary depending on the individual learner and their prior knowledge of the subject matter.
MyRC eLearning
You will receive an activation email, and access to the online course modules through the Canadian Red Cross MyRC eLearning platform shortly after completing your purchase. If you already have an active MyRC Profile, please provide the same email address associated with your profile. If you do not already have a MyRC profile, the email address you provide will be utilized to start a new profile on your behalf.
Who should take this Course?
Understanding medical terminology is vital when entering a number of medical professions, including medical billing, medical coding, medical administration, emergency responders, public safety professionals, and those who wish to gain a more thorough understanding of medical terms and/or enhance the knowledge base they already have.
Completion Requirements
At the end of the online module participants must successfully complete the test. Participants that do not achieve 70% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to advance and complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique. Upon successful completion, there is a printable Certificate for your records.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Medical Terminology course, the participant will be able to analyze medical terms, correctly spell medical terms, pronounce medical terms and correctly read passages containing medical terms
You will access and complete the Canadian Red Cross Medical Terminology online course modules through the Canadian Red Cross online learning platform.
Shortly after you have registered and paid for an Online Medical Terminology course, you will recieve a course activation email from the Canadian Red Cross MyRC elearning platform. From there, you can access and complete your online Medical Terminology course modules through your new or existing Canadian Red Cross MyRC Profile.
Step-by-Step Instructions...
- Sign in to your MyRC profile at myrc.redcross.ca
(Click here for instructions on setting up your MyRC Profile for the first time, if you haven't done so already) - Sign in with your email and password
- Click the "My Profile" tab ... then select "My Online Courses" from the corresponding drop-down menu
- Click "Activate" next to the online Medical Terminology course module
- Verify your preferred language
- Click "Enter Course"
- Move through and complete the online Modules at your own pace
- You can close your browser any time, and restart where you left off later
- Save your completion Certificate as a PDF file when you are finished

Once you have completed the registration process, accessed your Canadian Red Cross MyRC profile, and successfully activated the online Medical Terminology modules in the "My Online Courses" section, you will be able to move through the individual modules at your own pace. You can start and stop as often as you like, and you can pick up where you left off later.
You can review and re-complete any of the chapters as many times as you like, regardless of whether or not you were successful on the first try. The course will remain accessible to you, through your MyRC profile, at any time. You can review any of the information and learning outcomes whenever you want to brush up on your Medical Terminology knowledge and understanding.
Once you have successfully completed all the modules, you can access, download and print your Medical Terminology Certificate. Although you can always download the certificate again later, through your MyRC profile, Medi-Pro recommends that you store a pdf copy of your certificate on your hard-drive/cloud storage server for quick reference and proof of completion.
